Paradigms of Teacher Education

In the view of numerous challenges to day, a fundamental concern is about the paradigm of teacher education in the present context. At present teacher education inevitably inform and affect the efforts of research and innovation in subject teaching and subject teacher development, knowledge and skills are going to be outdated very quickly through digital technology and globalization. Now, Indian universities and teacher Education institutions introducing new paradigm in teacher education, i.e; technological advancement, quality, research, innovations, knowledge and skills. This key presentation is highlighting the paradigms shifted in teacher education in the present context…….. It is now widely acknowledged that the most effective pathway to improved student learning outcomes is the quality of teaching, especially teacher’s ability to motivate and facilitate such learning. Researches shows that teacher quality is significantly and positively correlated with pupil attainment, and that is the most important within-school aspect explaining student performance. To achieve the outcome of enhanced quality at all levels of education different government organizations and agencies has been focusing it’s attention to quality assurance in teacher education. They provide adequate guidelines for formulating quality assurance policies as well as adopting systems and procedures within teacher education institution for enhancing the quality of the process involved in teacher development. Teacher education programs are design to prepare effective teachers by providing theoretical awareness of teaching ability. The present curriculum of teacher education has heavy concentration on mere professional skills or methodology of teaching and has very bearing on the development of personality of teachers or his social competencies and conceptual abilities in terms of creative ideas, schemes, plans or researches. A large number of new paradigms are emerging in teacher education in India and other countries.
