Abstract :

Mutual funds have emerged as one of the most popular investment avenues for both individual and institutional investors, offering diversification, professional management, and liquidity. This study focuses on understanding the structure, types, benefits, and risks associated with mutual funds. A mutual fund is a pool of money collected from various investors and managed by professional fund managers, who invest in a diversified portfolio of stocks, bonds, or other securities in line with the fund's objective. The research highlights various categories of mutual funds such as equity funds, debt funds, hybrid funds, and index funds, each catering to different risk appetites and investment goals. The performance of mutual funds is evaluated using key metrics such as Net Asset Value (NAV), expense ratio, and returns over different time horizons.
